Tigerboxes are Grrrreat!

Just to recap the meeting we had today (11/4), we have decided on a distribution to ues for our tiger boxes.  We are going to be using Ubuntu 9.10 as the base os.  If you are unfamiliar with this operating system, or new to setting up virtual machines, come to the next meeting (11/11 at 4:30 in East Hall 105) and we'll help you get going.  This meeting is informal and not required if you already have an Ubuntu VM setup, but if you want to come help others that would be great.

Download Ubuntu 9.10 (the 32-bit version will work fine).

We also went over a few of the Hack This Site (www.hackthissite.org) tutorials during the meeting.

Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) is is a two day event and the first competition that specifically focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing "commercial" network infrastructure. CCDC provides a unique opportunity for students and industry professionals to interact and discuss many of the security and operational challenges the students will soon face as they enter the job market.

There is a group that is meeting twice a week to prepare for the competition which will be held in March of 2009. If you are interested in participating or just learning, please contact Scott Paulsen at scott.paulsen@dsu.edu or Josh Bosma at bosmajo@pluto.dsu.edu

For more information, head over to DSU's CCDC website.
